My favorite color is blue, well actually green. But no color has more of an effect on me than purple. When I lived in Arkansas, purple wild flowers bloomed along the highway to announce the arrival of Easter. To me purple has become the color of beauty.

While working the front desk of the 2004 Prom Fair a young lady walked in carrying a gown. She came to donate her gown and to work as a volunteer at the fair. She is the first, to my knowledge, to have the experience she will describe. I thought it would make a nice story.

One day in March I was sitting reading the newspaper when I came by an advertisement for the Fairy Godmothers Prom Fair.  On the bottom of the advertisement there was a note asking for volunteers, dresses, and anything that could be donated.  I got on the website later that evening and signed up to volunteer and donate my prom dress, shoes, and acessories.

When I got to the Fair I honestly was not sure what to expect.  I walked in, dropped off my donated items, and went to the waiting room to get my first shopper.  The shopper and I looked for dresses for about an hour but everything she tried on was just too big.  I felt really bad for her because I wanted her to go to her prom looking beautiful.  Just then I got an idea.  As I looked at her I realized that the dress and accessories that I donated would fit her perfectly!!

I ran to the room and gathered the stuff that I donated and brought it to her to try on.  As she tried everything on I could not believe how perfectly everything fit her.  Just seeing her so happy made me feel really good about myself.

There are very few times in your life that you can see something good come out of what you have done.  By donating items that were no longer of use to me, I was able to fulfill another young girl's dream of going to her prom and looking beautiful.  The Fairy Godmothers foundation is truly a wonderful organization that helps in making the dreams of young girls come true.  I feel honored that I was able to participate in such a great foundation.

We are often asked by donors about who bought the gown that they donated. Unfortuniately we don't know. Above is a women who got to see her donation find it's way to a young girl's heart. I hope that all of you that have donated or will be donating can adopt her experience as your own. While Fairy Godmothers collects, and while Fiary Godmothers destributes, it is really you who are giving your gown to this young lady, we just act as your intermediater.

I forgot to mention. The gown was purple.
